Friendly contacts for transient boaters on the Great Loop, inland waterways, and elsewhere
The Trawlers & Trawlering Circle of Friends directory lists the names of contacts along the waterways of the Great Loop or Great Circle as well as other connecting waterways and tributaries-and now other areas, too. These are generally boaters who are familiar with the needs of the cruising boaters. They have volunteered their services to provide whatever assistance is needed to help you along the waterways.
This may be no more than a number to call to ask where to find a marina or it may include a private dock for an overnight stop. Some may offer transportation to a local market, a suitable refreshment in exchange for tales of your travels, local advice on where to buy fuel or other supplies, where to find medical services, repair facilities, rental cars, points of interest, et cetera.
Remember: These are friends and only expect to be treated as such. They do not expect compensation. At times, due to individual circumstances, a friend may not be available, so don't expect to always find them at home. They may be, like you, out enjoying the water.
If you would like to join the Trawlers & Trawlering Circle of Friends and are willing to provide assistance to transient boaters, please send your information to Louis Letson.
Include your location, name, phone, e-mail address, and services that you can offer. Please be specific about location. A description such as "Gulf Coast" is a bit broad; use something more specific like "Pensacola area." Also include any specific services that you can provide such as docking (length and depth), power or water hookup, e-mail availability, and so on.
The directory will be updated periodically, so do not worry if you don't immediately see a listing after you volunteer.
