New magazine launched
In 2003, World Publications, publisher of Cruising World and 14 other magazines, acquired the Trawler World name and concept from Georgs Kolesnikovs of Trawler World Productions, and launched Power Cruising. "World Publications has the resources—and experience with outstanding magazines such as Cruising World—to serve the cruising powerboat market better than anyone else." Kolesnikovs said. "I am really pleased to be involved in a magazine that will likely be recognized before long as the leading title in the field." Kolesnikovs serves as editor-at-large of Power Cruising with special responsibility for coverage of trawlers and trawlering. Kolesnikovs has spent the last four decades in newspapers and magazines, serving as editor or publisher. Currently, he is also editor and publisher of Circumnavigator, a special magazine about passagemaking under power sponsored by Nordhavn, and editor of Trawler News, an electronic newsletter. In 1996, Kolesnikovs founded the popular West Marine Trawler Fest series of rendezvous which he owned and operated until 2002. In 1996, he also launched TrawlerWorld.com which later became TrawlersAndTrawlering.com. Kolesnikovs hosts Trawlers & Trawlering List, the most popular forum on the Internet about voyaging, cruising and living aboard under power. He also hosts Great Loop List, Passagemaking Under Power List, Buy! Sell! Trade! List, and Power Catamaran List. Before turning to motorboating, Kolesnikovs was an accomplished sailor.
