What is your background in boating? Jeff and Karen Siegel: Jeff grew up with boating and always lived close to the ocean. When we moved to the coast of Maine, we decided that we wanted to explore the huge coastline by boat and purchased a grand old wooden lobster boat. It had an ice-breaking hull and a cage around the prop. It had been used for year-round fishing for almost 50 years. We figured that with its history, there was nothing that we could do to hurt her. We explored everywhere within a day’s ride in that boat. Soon we realized that we wanted to go further and bought an Albin express cruising boat. That gave us the cruising bug and we decided that we wanted to greatly extend our reach. After two years of looking, we purchased our DeFever 53 Raised Pilothouse, aCappella. We have taken aCappella on multiple trips from Maine to the Bahamas and Key West accompanied by our first-rate canine crew. What is ActiveCaptain?
