Five years from now, what is the next big thing in electronics for boating likely to be?

Jeff and Karen Siegel: The most major technological change that has taken place in the last 5-10 years has been the Internet. Almost every part of our lives has been affected by it. We research things, buy things, and learn about things, all with the Internet. We communicate with each other over the Internet. And yet the Internet has barely touched the electronics on most boats. Today you can get Internet connectivity while underway. In fact, it's pretty good. But real high-speed connections aren't consistent and none of it is integrated into the helms of most boats (ours included). That's a big change that's coming.

Where will this lead?

“I could guess,” Jeff says, “but I'd rather invent it.”
